Session Vault and device pairing are available today and free. The hosted services and every price on this page are planned: nothing here can be bought yet. We publish the prices now, with the reasoning, so you can see how we got there and tell us where we are wrong.
Overdeck runs on your own machine. Your agents, workspaces and conversations live there. Overdeck Anywhere is the set of features that let you and your work leave that machine.

Continue anywhere

Pick up an agent conversation on a different machine, even when the first one is switched off.

Reach your Overdeck

Get to your Overdeck from a laptop, phone or another service without opening ports.

Know when you're needed

Get a notification when an agent needs you.

Share a live session

Later: share a live session with someone else.
The plan lives in the Overdeck Anywhere epic, PAN-2350. “Overdeck Anywhere” and “Session Vault” are working names.

Plans

Self-hosted

$0, forever
Open source.
  • Unlimited storage on your own backend
  • All of Session Vault Phase A

Vault Free

$0
Hosted.
  • 1 GB of hosted vault storage
  • 2 machines
  • End-to-end encrypted

Anywhere

$8 / month
Billed $96 a year, or $10 month-to-month.
  • 100 GB of hosted vault storage
  • Unlimited machines
  • The relay and hosted push notifications as they ship
  • Hosted agent compute is billed separately by usage

Anywhere, founding price

$60 / year
Annual only.
  • Everything in Anywhere
  • Stays at $60 for as long as you stay subscribed
  • Open to the first 500 subscribers, or until the relay ships, whichever comes first
Extra storage: +$3 a month or +$30 a year per 100 GB, for the few who pass 100 GB and prefer not to prune old records. Team: not at launch. A team plan needs a key-sharing design first (see why there is no team plan yet).

Encryption

Transcripts are encrypted on your machine before upload, with a key only you hold. The hosted service stores ciphertext it cannot read, and your account never gains the ability to decrypt it. This also means we cannot recover your vault if you lose every device and your recovery phrase.

Deletion

Deleting your account deletes all of your hosted vault data within 24 hours.

Payments

We plan to sell through Creem as merchant of record. Creem is the legal seller, so it collects and remits VAT, GST and sales tax where they apply.

What stays free and open source

These are not trials and do not expire. Self-hosting has no feature gate, and we do not plan to add one.
  • Overdeck itself, including every feature that runs on your own machines.
  • All of Session Vault Phase A: the pan vault commands, the git and directory backends, end-to-end encryption, full version history, and resume from any saved version. Your vault can be as large as your own backend allows.
  • Per-machine servers, federation and SSH hosts. Connecting your own machines to each other needs no account and no subscription.
  • Leaving. When the hosted vault launches, pan vault migrate (planned) will copy every record out of it to a backend you run, whether or not your subscription is active.

What has shipped

Setting up, joining and unlocking the vault from the dashboard is planned: PAN-4446. Today you do these with pan vault in a terminal.

Roadmap

Most of Anywhere is open-source software you run yourself. The paid part comes last and consists of hosted services.
1

Session Vault, Phase A

Shipped (v0.64.0). Free, open source.Saves agent conversations (Claude Code and Codex) as versioned, encrypted records on a backend you choose: a private git remote or a directory. Browse every saved conversation from any of your machines and continue one from any saved version. PAN-2609
2

One Overdeck server per machine

Partly shipped. Free, open source.Shipped: machine identity, pairing and device sessions. Planned: a list of your machines with an environment switcher, advertised endpoints, then SSH hosts and remote servers. PAN-3762, PAN-4402, PAN-4403, PAN-3863, PAN-4404
3

Notifications, remote access and a mobile web app

Planned. Free, open source.Needs-you notifications sent to a notification service you configure, remote dashboard access through a tunnel you control, and a mobile web app. PAN-2354, PAN-2352, PAN-2355
4

Remote agent workspaces on Fly.io

Planned. Free, open source; you pay Fly directly.Remote agent workspaces on Fly.io that you run yourself. PAN-1775, PAN-1676
5

Hosted services on overdeck.ai

Account service built (invite-only); the rest planned. This is the paid plan above. An account, the subscription, the hosted Session Vault, then the relay (reach your machines from anywhere, with hosted push notifications delivered through it), then shared sessions. The account service is built and invite-only: testers are added by the operator, and the hosted vault cap is 5 GB per tester. The server code for these services is published in services/ under the Functional Source License (FSL-1.1-MIT): you can read, run, modify and self-host it, but not offer it as a competing commercial service, and each release becomes MIT two years after it ships. Everything else in Overdeck stays MIT. PAN-4293, PAN-4294, PAN-4297, PAN-2356, PAN-658
6

Hosted agent capacity

Planned. Billed separately by usage.Your agents running on machines we manage. PAN-4298

How we arrived at these prices

The full reasoning, section by section. Open any one that interests you.
We looked at two groups, with prices as published in September 2026.Products that save or move AI coding sessions. Most of them do it for free, or as part of a subscription you already buy for model access. Claude Code’s Remote Control, included with Claude subscriptions, controls a session that is still running on its original machine. None of the products we found sell session storage by the gigabyte, and none encrypt agent transcripts with a key only the user holds.Paid sync or hosted add-ons on top of a free or open-source core:Two conclusions:
  • $8 a month billed annually, or $10 monthly, is the settled price for an individual pro plan on a developer tool. Obsidian Sync Plus sits exactly there with 10 GB. We offer 100 GB at the same price, because storing it costs us very little (next section).
  • Nobody should pay per gigabyte for this. Consumer cloud storage costs about $1.50 per 100 GB a month, so a per-gigabyte price above that would feel wrong. The price has to be for the workflow, not the bytes.
Volume. A heavy user running many agents at once writes about 13 GB of raw transcripts a month. Transcripts compress well: zstd at level 3 shrank a sample of real transcripts by about 3.2x. That heavy user therefore adds about 4 GB of stored data a month and would take about two years to fill 100 GB. A typical single-agent user writes far less; we estimate 0.1 to 0.6 GB of stored data a month, but we have not measured it yet.Storage. The hosted vault is planned on Cloudflare R2 at $0.015 per GB-month, with no egress fee, which matters because restoring a conversation on a new machine is a download. Durable Objects hold each vault’s version pointers.Requests. A heavy user with ten agents saving every five minutes makes about 21,000 writes and 50,000 reads a month. On R2 with Workers and Durable Objects that costs about $0.16 a month.All-in cost per user per month:A free user costs us at most about 4 cents a month, so a free hosted tier is affordable. The fixed platform cost is small (Cloudflare Workers has a $5 monthly minimum). The real cost of running this is support time: lost keys, billing questions and sync bugs.
Creem charges 3.9% plus $0.40 per successful charge, with no extra fee for international cards. Payouts to us cost the higher of $7 or 1% of each payout. The fixed $0.40 is what shapes the plan:In countries with VAT or GST the fee is charged on the tax-inclusive amount, so its share of our revenue there is somewhat higher.
Storage and requests for a user at the full 100 GB cap cost us about $1.70 a month, and a typical user costs well under that. Creem’s fees take about $4 of a $96 annual plan. The rest of the price pays for building and maintaining Overdeck, supporting subscribers, and the parts of Anywhere that are not built yet.The relay and push notifications will add cost that we have not modeled yet. We will build that cost model before the relay leaves beta. Hosted agent compute is the one thing whose cost scales directly with use, which is why it is billed by usage instead of being included.
Because of the fixed $0.40 per charge, a monthly plan loses about three times as much of each dollar to fees as an annual one. We still offer monthly at $10 for people who want to try it without committing, but the annual price is 20% lower ($96 against $120), the same discount Raycast and Obsidian use. The founding price is annual only for the same reason.
A standalone “encrypted backup of your transcripts” competes with free tools and with Obsidian Sync Standard at $4 a month, and at $3 to $5 a month card fees would take 12% to 17% of it. Its honest price would be low, and most of it would go to fees. What the vault does that nothing else does is let your work follow you: continue on your laptop while your desktop is off, from any saved version, across harnesses, with a key only you hold. That is the same promise as the relay, push notifications and, later, shared sessions. So the vault anchors one Anywhere subscription instead of being a separate product. At launch only the vault exists, so we would be charging a bundle price for one feature. The founding price addresses that: $60 a year, locked for as long as you stay subscribed, until the relay ships or 500 people have joined.
  • It is the promise the project was built on. Weakening the free git backend would break that promise, and the promise is worth more than the subscriptions it might add.
  • It removes lock-in. You can start self-hosted, move to the hosted vault, and move back with pan vault migrate once it ships (planned with the hosted vault, PAN-4297).
  • It does not take much away from the paid plan. Encrypted records cannot be delta compressed, so a heavy user outgrows a free git host’s recommended repository size in a few months. The people who value the vault most are the ones most likely to want someone else to run it. Bitwarden and Atuin both publish their servers and still run popular hosted services.
  • The hosted services themselves are source-available under FSL-1.1-MIT rather than MIT. That stops someone reselling them as a competing service; it does not limit running them yourself, and each release turns MIT after two years.
Every direct alternative stores sessions for free, so a time-limited trial would lose the “try it” comparison. The 1 GB free tier costs us about 4 cents per user a month. Transcripts only grow, so the free tier fills up on its own for anyone who uses it heavily, and no feature needs to be held back to encourage upgrades. Version history is never gated, because resuming from any saved version is the point of the vault.
Every record is encrypted with a single key that one person holds. Sharing a vault with a team needs a key-sharing design, and it depends on shared sessions (PAN-658). We will not publish a team price until that design exists.

What we still need to learn

  • How much a typical user actually stores. The vault collects no telemetry, so we plan a local pan vault stats command and will ask early users to share its output.
  • What the relay costs to run per user.
  • Whether people will pay $96 a year, and $60 at the founding price. We plan a waitlist before launch.
If you have a view on any of this, comment on PAN-4294 (subscription and billing) or PAN-4297 (hosted Session Vault).
